14 Oct Almost half term!
Dear families,
With 1 more week of this half term, year 5 have been busy as usual.
In Math, we have been adding up to 5 digit numbers and using our problem and reasoning skills to answer word problems. Next week, we will cover subtraction up to 5 digits.
Literacy was based on our topic All about France. The children pooled their knowledge to compare and contrast France and England; they researched facts about the different landmarks in Paris and started to learn about the features of information texts.
In RE, we analysed the stories of the woman who touched Jesus’ garments and was healed and the story of Lazarus’ resurrection. The children have begun to identify what aspect of Jesus’ nature/character is being displayed with each miracle.
Every Monday, they have Spanish and Music with our new staff members Miss Lopez and Miss James. The children seem to really enjoy these subjects.
Homework: Math, Reading and spellings was given today (someone forgot their reading and spelling homework outside, please collect it from me on Monday). This is due on Thursday.

Thank you to those who revised last week’s spellings for today’s quiz. Unfortunately, I was not able to do today’s spelling quiz as many said they hadn’t practiced the words I handed out last week, so I have postponed the quiz for Monday. For Monday’s quiz, look at the words on the dojo post dated: October 6th.
Have a relaxed weekend!
