01 Jul It’s Time For The Summer Reading Challenge!
The Summer Reading Challenge, presented by The Reading Agency, is delivered in partnership with public libraries and funded by Arts Council England.
The Challenge encourages children aged 4 to 11 to enjoy the benefits of reading for pleasure over the summer holidays, providing lots of fun and enjoyment as well as helping to prevent the summer reading ‘dip’.
This year’s Summer Reading Challenge is all about happiness and having a laugh! Just what’s needed at this difficult time!
Due to COVID-19, the Summer Reading Challenge is coming to you in a different way. Instead of children popping in to the local Islington Library, the Summer Reading Challenge will be online and can be found at
http://summerreadingchallenge.org.uk/
After joining using the safe sign-up process, there’s a personal profile area where children can set reading goals, review books, view book recommendations and access guides to e-books. There will also be a forum to chat to friends, play games, download and print activities, as well as family activities with rewards and unlockable content to keep children and families engaged throughout the summer months.
The platform will be FREE for children and families to use. It’s also a great chance for children to enjoy some of the e-books and e-audio books we have for loan at Islington Libraries.
We hope you enjoy the challenge this year. Don’t forget to upload any photos/reviews on Google Classroom, Class Dojo or the school twitter with the hashtag #sillysquad2020 #SummerReadingChallenge
