16 Sep Settled in!
Dear Parents/Carers,
We have had a wonderful week and all the children have really settled in well.
In English, we have been learning about poems and trying to work on our rhyming skills. The children were so invested in this lesson and actually wanted to continue writing! They all tried so hard the entire week, and loved thinking about ingredients that they could add to their potion. The poems were still linked to Rapunzel, but instead of the usual fairy tell ending our story of Rapunzel ended with Rapunzel hunting witches. Our poems were based on how to help Rapunzel fight the witches.
In Math’s, we have been going over greater than, less than and equals to. They liked going over what numbers were greater, and using the tens and one’s methods to help. The children were really good at writing in their book rather than relying on the worksheet. We have also started arithmetic’s and have been doing this daily, the children are becoming better at going over old methods.
Every week there will be a times table test on a Friday, so please can you practise wherever possible.
In RE, we went over the kingdom of God and the children did some beautiful art work as to what this looks like to them.
Geography, the children used their predictions based on previous weather to see what the forecast could be. They made some really good predictions!
PSHE, we spoke about special people in our lives and how we know that they are special.
Every Friday, there will be a spelling and times table test. Please be sure to go over it with your children before that day. With reading books could you write in the books as often as you read, that way I can keep track with how often they are reading. The children are more than welcome to take some books from the book corner.
A huge well done to Harper, for being the star of the week! She tried super hard all week with her work and should be very pleased. I am excited to see who will get it next week.
Once the children are collected could they please not go on the climbing frame as it can become too crowded at the end of the school day, which could lead to an accident.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone and remember Monday is the bank holiday so school will be shut.
Thank you
Miss Nero
